Details of Achievements

National Skills Foundation of India (NSFI) is a not for profit organization focused on the objective of skill building and development of vocational opportunities for India’s large but relatively unskilled workforce. NSFI is realizing its mission towards enabling sustainable livelihoods through trainings of unskilled / semi-skilled workers, rural youth, farmers, and women entrepreneurs and action research in the domains of agriculture supply & value chains, markets and skills, and through across the nation with the objective of providing them access to growth sectors in formal labour markets. Further, NSFI through promoting various Centre for Excellence, is working towards building the knowledge and efficiency & effectiveness of praxis in various domains. Various projects are taken up at NSFI that aid in sustainable livelihoods and incomes. NSFI is taking up assignments to generate results that are of benefit to public and private bodies working towards the evolution of sustainable interventions, projects and programmes or their outcomes. With the belief that solutions are to be field driven and grounded in local context; evidenced from the field & owned and driven by local people; and that local action can & must shape the global policy too, NSFI undertakes decentralized collaborative projects at with the goal of evolve and build customized and contextual projects for implementation. NSFI combines research and action, testing out big new ideas in practice, to assess whether and how they can achieve their promises and be sustainable in the long run both at the intervention level and at the market / economy level. Action and Research at NSFI is multidisciplinary in collaboration with various institutes / individuals working in national and international spheres of research and practice. Various projects handled / contributed to by NSFI research team include: 1. Conducting Financial Literacy Training to Sugarcane Farmers in Tamil Nadu supported by International Finance Corporation and Solidaridad. 2. Conducted Financial Inclusion Training To Women Farmers, at Kanpur Nagar, Faizabad, Kaushambhi, Ambedkar Nagar Uttar Pradesh 3. Incubator for Green Colleges towards handholding and backstopping the training activities of 9 Training Providers in Curriculum Development, Training of Trainers, Bank Linkages and Market Linkages. The project includes promoting entrepreneurship among rural youth towards sustainable incomes. 4. Skill Development of Rural Youth on Combine Harvester Operation and Maintenance towards developing them as rural entrepreneurs with the support of UK India Educational Research Initiative (UKIERI) 5. Analyse the value chains of Rural Trades towards achieving sustainable incomes in the State of West Bengal – A Skill Development Perspective 6. Base line study on best model on Livelihood Promotion for Backward Districts of Sonbhadra (U.P.) 7. Report on Human Resources Requirements and Training required for Logistics Sector 8. Proposal Development for Skill Development in the Textile Sector for the training of 1.54 million skilled manpower for Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) 9. Developing Skill Gaps and Needs Assessment of Agriculture Workers in three districts in Rajasthan 10. Developing Skill Development Strategy for three of the provinces in Afghanistan for Aga Khan Foundation (AKDN)
