Details of Achievements

Brief report on the activities of Ladakh institute of prevention (LIP) Health of the high altitude population of Ladakh and those coming to work in this region need special care and attention. Protection is required from the additional hypoxic conditions resulting from environmental pollution, Occupational related diseases, life style related diseases due to acculturization and high altitude related diseases. LIP over the years have carried out detailed epidemiological studies on these subjects and applied interventions to safeguard the population’s health and environment. A thousand metres above foundationOverseas2017-2018447739Ladakh Institute of prevention conducted comprehensive health check up of all three hamlets of Domkhar with main focus on Non-communicable diseases (NCD). On 4 -9 september 2017, treated 62 patients in Domkhar Do, 67 patients at Domkhar Barma, which included 8 patients of diabetes and 75 patients at Domkhar Gongma which included 3 cases of diabetes. Prevalence of hypertension was 37.71% in Dhomkhar region. Funding for the camp was met through donation of ATMA (A thousand meter above) Canada
Australian Himalayan FoundationOverseas2014-2015500000On 23-25th june, 2014; Dr Norboo of Ladakh Institute of prevention conducted a clinical teaching session for 35 zanskari Amchi’s at Padum-zanskar. Bed side teachings on methodology for giving first-aid in different emergency situation and for neurological examination were taugh. From 17-20th of August 2014, LIP conducted health camp at Lungnak, Atting and skyagam. 308 patients were investigated for Anaemia, VitaminD deficiency, besides screening for N. C Disease .
