BPNI spearheaded work on policy and programs enabling women to be successful in breastfeeding. That led to enactment of the IMS Act banning promotion of all baby foods and bottles. BPNIs work has resulted in six months maternity leave central government employees IGMSY scheme for low income women support to exclusive breastfeeding in the NFSA key policies five yr plans NHM ICDS IYCF guidelines of MOH ICDS referring breastfeeding. Restriction of milk formula sale in India. Improved BF rates.
